Teacher Preparation Programs
This report describes results from the first year of research in a partnership between the National Center for the Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research (CALDER) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) to study teacher preparation and licensure in Massachusetts.
Specifically, we examine how three outcomes—student achievement on state standardized tests, summative performance ratings from educator evaluation, and teacher attrition—vary among teacher candidates from different licensure pathways, preparation program types, and specific EPPs and programs.
These findings are based on a statewide analysis of Massachusetts teachers who completed educator preparation programs or earned a first teaching license in Massachusetts between 2010 and 2014.
