Lesley Lavery, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Macalester College, is an affiliated researcher with CEDR. Lesley's research interests focus on education policy, political behavior, and civic participation. Her current work with CEDR explores the relationship between collective bargaining agreements and the quality and distribution of teachers. She is also exploring dynamic participation in open enrollment programs and the relationship between education policy and parents' school-based and political attitudes and behaviors. Her recent work appears in Politics and Policy, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, and the Economics of Education Review.
Lesley holds degrees from Willamette University (BA, Politics) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MA and PhD, Political Science). Prior to her graduate studies Lesley taught 2nd grade in San Jose, California with Teach for America.
